Job summary

CRA Legal is seeking an Associate Solicitor to join its defendant Employers' Liability and Public Liability team in the UK. You will manage a varied caseload, spanning fast-track to multi-track litigation, with exposure to major insurer clients and complex, high-value matters.

Ideal candidates will have EL/PL or transferable Personal Injury experience, strong litigation skills, and a view to developing long-term careers within defendant insurance litigation.

Role: Associate - Employers' & Public Liability
Working Pattern: Full-time
Salary: £50,000 - £80,000 DOE
Contract: Permanent

Are you a Personal Injury Solicitor looking to develop your career within defendant EL/PL and gain exposure to more complex, higher-quality litigation? CRA Consulting are working with a leading national legal practice that is continuing to invest heavily in its Defendant Personal Injury offering. Due to ongoing growth and new client instructions, they are looking to recruit an ambitious Associate Solicitor to join an established and highly regarded EL/PL team. This is a particularly strong opportunity for someone around NQ-2 years' PQE, although PQE is very much a guideline and candidates will ultimately be considered on the strength of their experience.

The Role

You'll manage your own caseload of defendant Employers' Liability and Public Liability claims, dealing predominantly with litigated matters. The caseload will include a mixture of:

• Employers' Liability claims
• Public Liability claims
• Fast-track litigation
• Intermediate-track matters
• Multi-track claims
• Mixed-value and volume litigation
• Claims involving SME insureds
• Leisure and retail sector claims
• More complex and high-profile instructions

You'll be given the opportunity to take genuine ownership of your files while having access to experienced senior lawyers when required. The role will also allow you to build your commercial awareness and develop relationships with key insurer clients - an important step for anyone looking to progress beyond pure file handling and build a long-term career within defendant insurance litigation.

What we’re looking for

Ideally, you'll be a qualified Solicitor around NQ-2 years' PQE, although applications from candidates outside this bracket are absolutely encouraged where the experience fits. The key requirement is litigation experience. Previous EL/PL experience would be particularly attractive, but the firm is interested in people with a strong Personal Injury litigation background who have the technical ability and ambition to develop further within defendant work. You'll ideally have:
