Job summary

A personal care support provider in Scotland seeks a Personal Care Assistant to assist individuals with physical and learning disabilities in their home. Job description
Personal Care Assistant / Support Worker

We require a personal care assistant / support worker to assist a young man with a physical disability, learning disability and epilepsy and a young woman with autism, both living in the family home in Stonehouse.

You would provide one-to-one care, supporting each person individually at separate times (5 hours per week each) to provide assistance in the community, including participation in social activities.

Responsibilities
  • Assisting with emergency medication
  • Assisting with and participating in chosen activities
  • Moving and assisting – pushing manual wheelchair (only required for long-distance walks)
  • Any other daily living tasks to promote independent living
  • Driver essential and you will be required to use your own vehicle – mileage allowance will be paid.

Must take a proactive and innovative approach to support and encourage the individual to be involved in activities suited to their needs.

Favourite activities are 10-pin bowling, music, playing game consoles, going out for lunch (e.g. McDonald’s), and garden centres.

Epilepsy experience is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.

Recruiting for one position. Guaranteed permanent position of 10 hours per week.

Days and times (to be discussed at interview):

  • Wednesday: 10am – 3pm
  • Friday: 6.30pm – 9.30pm
  • Occasional weekends and evenings may be required – to be discussed at interview.
Hourly rate

£12.60 per hour.
