Job summary

Senploy seeks a warm and patient Support Assistant to work in a secondary school in East Ham, supporting a pupil with severe autism. You will help with personal care, maintain routines, and collaborate with staff and family to ensure the pupil feels safe and engaged throughout the day.

Ideal candidates are kind, calm, reliable and discreet, with experience in school or SEN settings and the physical ability to assist with moving and handling under supervision.

Qualifications

• Experience in school, SEN or care settings.
• Physically able to assist with moving and handling.
• Willing to work with a pupil with autism and complex needs.

Responsibilities

• Help with personal care (toileting, hygiene, dressing) with dignity.
• Follow familiar routines and use visual supports to keep day calm.
• Spot when pupil is uncomfortable or distressed, even without words.
• Encourage small steps towards independence.
• Work with teachers, therapists and family to support pupil.
