Job summary

Independent lives is seeking kind, reliable Personal Assistants / Support Workers to assist a 16-year-old autistic boy with an entrepreneurial spirit who has additional needs including anxiety and learning differences. The role is part-time and can be split; you will join two existing PAs in a supportive team and may travel overseas on holidays.

Applicants should have autism/SEND experience preferred, be willing to obtain necessary checks, and be flexible around availability to fit school

Qualifications

• Experience with autism/SEND preferred.
• All applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check if required.

Responsibilities

• Transportation for the teenager.
• Provide companionship and social support.
• Support community access and activities.
• Help build independence skills.
• Assist during school holidays and after school.
• Provide calm, consistent support while respecting privacy.
• Demonstrate reliable timekeeping and follow instructions as well as work on own initiative.
• Maintain hygiene, tidiness and organisation.
• Communicate effectively in English and maintain health and safety standards.

Job description

We are seeking kind, reliable and patient Personal Assistants / Support Workers, to assist an autistic 16 year old teenage boy who has an entrepreneurial spirit. He does have additional needs including anxiety, sensory processing difficulties and learning differences.

So experience with autism/SEND preferred.

It may also involve overseas travel to accompany us on holiday in August and Cornwall.

The role can be part time, open to job shares and is flexible around the PA so please apply with your availability. The role will also be alongside 2 other existing PAs so you will be a part of a supportive team.
