Cornwall Council is seeking a kind and patient personal assistant for a 14-year-old boy with autism and ADHD living in the Helston area. You will build a trusting relationship to support his social confidence and help him access new activities in the community.

He experiences some anxiety around new people and places, so anyone supporting him will need to take the time to build a relationship.
The role involves helping him build social confidence and access new activities in the community, including pursuing individual interests and hobbies.
He loves being outdoors and is keen to try activities such as mountain biking, trampolining, and karate. When indoors, he enjoys gaming and particularly enjoys Sonic the Hedgehog.
Other goals include supporting him in developing life skills, such as going to the shops, using public transport, managing money, and understanding appropriate behaviour and social interactions.

Rate of Pay: £14.00 per hour. A travel allowance of 45p per mile is provided for any journeys made while transporting him in your vehicle.
Hours: 5 hours per week, with flexible scheduling to suit the candidate's availability. Weekend and school holiday availability will be required.
The successful applicant will be employed under a private arrangement with the family, and not be employed or carry out work for Cornwall Council.
