Job summary

Direct Payments is seeking a friendly Personal Assistant to provide 25 hours per week of support in Gravesend. The role covers personal care, daily living tasks, and community access both at home and out and about. A driver is required to enable transport to appointments and activities.

Experience in a caring or support role is desirable but not essential; a respectful attitude and willingness to provide the right support are most important. DBS checks and references will be required.

Qualifications

• Must be a driver and comfortable driving to appointments.
• Able to provide personal care when needed and assist with daily living tasks.

• Able to work independently and follow guidance.

Responsibilities

• Assist with personal care, including bathing and getting dressed.
• Help with transfers to and from wheelchair and mobility aids.
• Prepare meals and assist with medications when required.
• Attend GP, hospital, and other appointments with/for the client.
• Drive to appointments and community activities, including occasional trips to London if needed.
• Assist with shopping, light housework, laundry and bedding.

Personal Assistant / Carer Required – 25 Hours per Week

I am looking to employ a friendly, caring and reliable Personal Assistant / Carer to provide 25 hours of support per week, both at home and out in the community.

The role will involve supporting me with my personal care and day-to-day needs, as well as helping me to access the community and attend appointments.

Duties will include:

• Support with personal care, including showering, washing my lower body and back, and getting dressed
• Support with transfers to and from my wheelchair
• Taking my wheelchair apart and putting it back together
• Lifting and handling the wheelchair in and out of the mobility car
• Preparing breakfast, lunch and evening meals
• Support with medication
• Support with attending GP, hospital and other appointments
• Driving to appointments, including possible trips to London
• Support with shopping and getting out into the community
• Light cleaning and household tasks
• Laundry and changing bedding
• Walking the dogs
• Must be able to safely handle and lift the wheelchair in and out of the car
• Must be comfortable and confident around dogs
• Must be comfortable providing personal care
• Reliable, patient, caring and supportive
• Able to support with wheelchair transfers and mobility needs
• Able to work independently and follow guidance
• Must be a driver, as driving is required for appointments and accessing the community

Experience in a caring or support role would be desirable but is not essential, as a caring, respectful attitude and willingness to provide the right support are most important.

This role would suit someone who is dependable, friendly and able to provide support while encouraging independence.
