Job summary

Medway Food Partnership is seeking a compassionate Personal Assistant to support a lady with significant physical disability in her own home in Gillingham. The role involves morning care, getting up with hoist equipment, and helping with daily routines, meals, and light household tasks.

You will work 6 hours per week across Saturday, Sunday, and one other weekday, with training provided. Applicants must be female for this role due to the nature of care.

Qualifications

• Previous care experience is desirable but not essential; full training provided.
• Willing to learn to use moving and handling equipment safely.
• Able to work independently and follow agreed care routines.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with getting out of bed using ceiling hoist and equipment.
• Providing personal care with dignity and respect.
• Assisting with washing, dressing and preparing for the day.
• Supporting continence care and meal preparation when required.
• Carrying out light household tasks related to care and wellbeing.
• Providing reassurance and person-centred support while promoting independence.

Salary: £13.50 per hour

About the role:

A compassionate, reliable and dependable female Personal Assistant is required to support a lovely lady with a significant physical disability and complex heath needs to live independently in her own home. My client is a full-time electric wheelchair user and requires support with all aspects of her morning routine. She enjoys reading and watching tv documentaries.

Duties will include:

• Assisting with getting out of bed using a ceiling hoist and other specialist equipment
• Providing personal care with dignity and respect
• Assisting with washing, dressing and preparing for the day
• Supporting with continence care
• Preparing breakfast and drinks if required
• Carrying out light household tasks related to the employer’s care and wellbeing
• Providing reassurance and person-centred support while promoting independence wherever possible

The employer experiences significant fatigue and has complex health needs, so a calm, patient and understanding approach is essential.
