Capability Scotland is seeking a kind, patient Personal Assistant to support a gentleman in his day-to-day life in Scotland. You will provide personal care, help with meals and medications, assist in light household tasks, and enable safe movement and social activities.

I am a gentleman in my late 60s seeking a kind, friendly, patient and reliable Personal Assistant to support me in my day-to-day life and spend enjoyable time with me.
I live with Parkinson’s dementia and use a walking aid and wheelchair to help me move around safely. I enjoy listening to music and reading, and I value calm, unhurried support that allows me to communicate, respond and make choices at my own pace.
I live with my wife, who is my main carer. As part of this role, there may be times when you will support her by providing assistance or offering her some well-deserved respite. I am looking for someone who is understanding, respectful and committed to helping me maintain my independence, dignity and quality of life.
I would like support with:
Living with Parkinson’s dementia can sometimes affect my judgement or behaviour, and I may occasionally say or do things that are out of character or socially inappropriate. I benefit from gentle, respectful support from someone who understands my condition and helps me preserve my dignity, privacy and appropriate boundaries.
I would love to hear from someone who is:
Rate of Pay: £15.00 per hour
Morning support: 9.30am to 10.30am, 3 to 4 days per week
Wednesday: 3 -4 hours respite support (flexible timing)
Thursday: 2 hrs 11.15am to 1.15pm respite support
An additional 3 hours of respite support, with days to be agreed
There is flexibility within the role, as respite hours may occasionally be accumulated and taken as a single 8-hour shift.
