Job summary

CDP473 Personal Assistant to a child is a part-time role to keep a young teenage boy safe and provide companionship while accessing the community. It covers time at home in the Pentwyn area of Cardiff and in community settings, with 6 hours every two weeks: one Saturday and one Sunday. Times discussed at interview.

The position pays £15.70 per hour, with a probation period, 4-weekly wages, 5.6 weeks paid holiday pro rata, and DBS checks at no cost. Driving is desirable.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a young teenage boy who has been diagnosed with autism, living in the Pentwyn area of Cardiff. I enjoy going to charity shops, phone shops, parks and recycling centres. At times, I can be over friendly to strangers so I need a personal assistant to make sure I am being kept safe and keep me companionship when accessing the community.

PURPOSE OF JOB

To keep me safe and keep me company.

PLACE OF WORK

In my home and out in the community.

HOURS OF WORK

6 hours every 2 weeks.

One Saturday and one Sunday.

Times will be discussed at interview.

Also to cover some relief work.

RATE OF PAY

£15.70 per hour

TASKS INVOLVED

• Keep me occupied and engaged in activities.
• Assist me with accessing the community.
• Make sure I am kept safe.

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

• Someone who is responsible and reliable.
• Someone who is honest and trustworthy.
• Someone who is caring and friendly.
• Someone who has some knowledge and experience of autism is preferred.
• Driver’s license and access to car desirable.

ABOUT THE JOB

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A probation period will be necessary in the first instance. Wages will be paid 4 weekly. You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You will be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
