Independent Lives in Shoreham-by-Sea is seeking a part-time Personal Assistant to support a disabled woman. The role involves 1 hour daily on Mon/Tue/Fri and 3 hours on Wed from 12 to 1pm starting December, on-site. Duties include housekeeping, shopping, companionship and pet care, with emphasis on discretion, reliability, hygiene and health & safety.

Driving licence preferred. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK and may be engaged directly or via the employer.

I am a disabled woman and a pensioner. I have a lively and open minded outlook, not matched by my physical abilities and I’m interested in politics and disability activism in particular.

From December, I will need a PA for 1 hour a day on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays, but 3 hours on Wednesday to help me either swim or have a shower at home. This would need to be from 12 - 1 p.m., but I can be flexible about time on the other days.

• - Other relevant duties as required


• - Shopping


• - Companionship


• - Occasionally looking after the cat


• - Respectful of the employer's privacy and confidentiality


• - Reliable with good timekeeping


• - Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative


• - Hygienic, tidy and well organised


• - Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties


• - Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills


• - Honest and cheerful


• - Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard


• - Able to always work to high standards of health & safety


• - A sense of humour!


• - Comfortable with cats


• - Whilst a driving license isn’t essential, it would be an advantage
