Job Summary

art-K is a private art education service that teaches children (who love art!). art-K has developed a specialist art program that tutors art skills to create great pieces of art. We are the largest children's art education service in England, teaching over 7000 children nationally per week!

Job Description

The purpose of this role is to assist art-K's Creative Director across various functions, including project creation, administration, diary management, planning training, and ad hoc events such as company outings. The successful candidate will support the effectiveness of the Creative Director in managing her office's processes and procedures.

As a growing company, art-K values each staff member. The successful applicant can expect future role development opportunities, including increased hours, role changes within the central team, or teaching roles which may involve relocation to new branches across the UK.

Responsibilities

The role involves supporting the Creative Director with daily tasks and long-term planning, including but not limited to:

  • Assisting in creating artworks and prototypes.
  • Collaborating on developing artwork for projects.
  • Researching and supporting new art ideas and theories for the art-K manuals.
  • Documenting projects as directed.
  • Supporting the delivery of art-K's school programs in local schools.
  • Providing administrative support.
  • Coordinating visits and meetings.
  • Preparing training facilities for staff training or franchise visits.
  • Preparing interview packs and supporting interview processes.
  • Assisting with visits, reporting, and recording mileage.
  • Performing other duties as needed.

Salary: £11,248.64 per year

Schedule: 16 hours per week, including a 30-minute paid break each day

Working hours: Monday 10am - 6pm, Tuesday 10am - 6pm

Location: Conifers, The Warren Ashtead, KT21 2RX. In-person work at art-K's Ashtead HQ is required on Fridays at minimum.

Job Requirements

Qualifications: A degree 2:1 is preferable, or relevant experience.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word.
  • Strong English writing skills for drafting content and email communication.
  • Art knowledge and skills to create artworks as directed, following briefs closely.
  • Ability to inspire with energy and confidence over time.
  • Effective communication skills, balancing company and individual needs.
Additional Responsibilities

Administrative tasks include:

  • Updating the company's Google calendar.
  • Sending birthday, anniversary, and celebratory cards/presents.
  • Organising social events and training facilities.
  • Managing art material requests.
  • Setting up access to key software.
  • Supporting booking system listings.
  • Assisting the Creative Project Coordinator.
  • Other administrative duties such as creating reports and collecting responses.

We seek someone who is passionate about children's artistic development, a good listener, empathetic, confident in engaging others, and able to present the company effectively during site visits.
