Job summary

Birmingham Children’s Trust is seeking a Personal Advisor to support Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children aged 16-25 as they transition from care to adulthood in the UK. You will build trusting relationships, promote independence, rights and access to services, and work in a hybrid Birmingham-based role.

We value trauma-informed, strengths-based practice and collaborative working with partners to improve outcomes for young people.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting unaccompanied asylum-seeking young people.
  • Knowledge of rights, entitlements, and independent living skills.
  • Strong communication, advocacy and partnership-building abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Build trusting relationships with unaccompanied young people.
  • Support development of independence and life skills.
  • Co-produce and review Pathway Plans reflecting goals.
  • Help navigate immigration, asylum and legal processes.
  • Promote engagement in education, employment and training.
  • Conduct regular visits and collaborate with networks.
  • Advocate for wellbeing, housing, health and education.
  • Respect cultural identity and individual needs.
  • Work with interpreters, legal reps and agencies.
