Job summary

Coventry City Council’s Through Care Service is recruiting a Personal Adviser and liaison officer for unaccompanied asylum-seeking children and care leavers aged 18-25. You will work directly with young people to support their transition to adulthood.

You will coordinate guidance, liaise with social workers, housing services, local support services, the Home Office and legal advisors to secure improved outcomes.

Qualifications

• Strong assessment skills and the ability to analyse complex information.
• Knowledge of the challenges care leavers face as they move into adulthood.
• Understanding of the legal framework for care leavers, housing, homelessness and Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children and Care Leavers.
• Confidence applying legislation to real-world situations.

Responsibilities

• Work as a Personal Adviser for 18-25-year-old care leavers.
• Facilitate their transition to adulthood and independence from local authority care.
• Coordinate support with social workers, local services, Home Office, and legal advisors.
• Ensure pathway plan objectives are met.
• Provide advice and liaise with support services.
