A full valid UK driving licence is required to discharge permit and traffic management duties under the Highways Act and related legislation. The appointee will assess, determine and process permit applications, liaising with utilities,

Job description

Permit Coordinator (Network Services and Regulations)

City of Wolverhampton Council is looking for exceptional candidates to fill a variety of roles within the Highway Service.

Salary - £36,363 - £40,777 (Grade 6)

Hours - 37 hour per week

Contract type - Full time, permanent

It is required that the successful candidate has a full valid UK driving licence.

To discharge the delivery of the Council's Street Works Coordination & Network Management duty by assessing, determining and processing permit applications, alongside temporary traffic management applications, in accordance with the requirements of the Highways Act 1980, New Roads & Street Works Act 1991 (NRSWA), the Traffic Management Act 2004 (TMA) and the Council Permit Scheme. This will involve liaison with the Statutory Utility Companies, Contractors and Private Individuals to ensure they understand and comply with the legislation, procedures and technical specifications.

Qualifications - Degree or HNC or equivalent in a relevant discipline or significant demonstrable experience in the area, significant experience in a traffic management, highways or street works environment, experience of supervising staff in a highways or street works environment.

Our working arrangements

All council roles are allocated to either a fixed, field or flexible work style. Some roles are agile which enable and empower employees to maximise their performance and productivity, whilst maintaining a healthy work life balance. Roles with a fixed workstyle work in a fixed permanent council location. Roles with a field workstyle are usually allocated where employees are required to be out working in the community with a minimum requirement for 'touch down' space at any council location. Roles with a flexible workstyle have a flexible base location to meet the needs of the business and employees can work from a mixture of home or any council office, partner/client, or external location, as required to meet service requirements.
