Job summary

West Midlands Metro is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Permanent Way Team Leader for a hands-on leadership role in Wednesbury. You will lead a team of PWay technicians, oversee planned and reactive maintenance, and ensure track safety and reliability across the tram network.

The role requires over eight years in rail, strong PW maintenance knowledge, and proven leadership. Hybrid working options are available, with a salary in the £46,034–£51,583 range and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Extensive rail infrastructure maintenance experience required.
• Proven leadership of maintenance teams in a similar environment.
• Strong knowledge of Permanent Way maintenance practices and safety standards.
• Ability to interpret detailed technical drawings and assess track geometry.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a team of Permanent Way maintenance technicians.
• Plan and prioritise planned and reactive maintenance across the tram network.
• Oversee inspection, diagnosis, maintenance and repair of switches, crossings and bespoke SC.
• Ensure track geometry remains within maintenance limits and review survey data.
• Manage PWay defects with appropriate risk controls.
• Ensure work is completed safely and in line with procedures and CDM requirements.
• Produce scopes of work for Permanent Way repairs and contractor support.
• Oversee contractors and planned works when required.
