Job summary

Forestry and Land Scotland is seeking a Forest Craftsperson to join our South Region Land Management Team. The role is based at Straiton, permanent and full-time.

You’ll work outdoors in all weather, supporting a programme of forest management and stewardship activities, including chainsaw work, tree planting, deer and stock fencing maintenance and weed control. Training, safety, and mapping tools are part of the role.

Qualifications

• Motivated to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Ability to prioritise workloads and maintain safety.
• Willingness to learn and develop through training and mentoring.
• Hold or be willing to gain industry certifications in chainsaw, brushcutter and pesticide application.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of forest management and stewardship activities.
• Carry out chainsaw work, windblow clearance, tree felling, and planting.
• Maintain deer and stock fencing and perform weed control.
• Assist with visitor facility maintenance and estate upkeep.
• Work with teams to prioritise annual work programmes and maintain health and safety.
