Job summary

Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting an Assistant Psychologist to join the North Yorkshire and York Perinatal Mental Health Service for a three-month, full-time (fixed-term) position.

The role includes supervision from a qualified psychologist, clinical exposure within the NHS, and opportunities to develop skills in delivering and evaluating psychological wellbeing interventions for women and birthing people and their infants.

Qualifications

• Psychology BSc Degree with GBC (Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership) required.
• No substantial assistant psychologist or research assistant experience.
• No postgraduate training course started or completed (including PhD).
• Experience of Financial, Educational or Social Barriers (FESB) may apply.
• Identify as an under-represented group within the Clinical Psychology profession (e.g. BAME).
• Unable to take on unpaid voluntary work due to caring responsibilities or personal circumstances.
• No family support.
• POLAR4 quintile indicators of low HE participation.
• Experience of discrimination in academia or profession.
• Family on low income or receiving benefits.
• Receiving government grants while at university.

Responsibilities

• The post holder will join a busy perinatal mental health service covering York, Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale, focusing on delivery and evaluation of psychological wellbeing interventions.
• There may be opportunities to shadow multidisciplinary team members and engage with York Community Mental Health Services.
