What you’ll do
Partnering with leaders
- Build trusted relationships with operational and functional leaders, providing practical, commercially focused people advice.
- Coach, advise and constructively challenge managers to strengthen leadership effectiveness and team capability.
Delivering people and workforce plans
- Translate people and workforce plans into clear, practical actions for leaders and managers.
- Implement talent, performance, succession and employee engagement initiatives.
Building organisational capability
- Identify learning and capability needs and work with People Centres of Expertise to develop appropriate solutions.
- Support managers with performance management, team development, career pathways, resource planning and recruitment.
Using insight to drive action
- Use people management information to identify trends, risks and opportunities.
- Bring emerging themes to the attention of leaders and ensure appropriate action is taken.
Embedding effective people practices
- Deliver and implement people policies, processes and services consistently.
- Work collaboratively with Employee Services and People Centres of Expertise to ensure solutions are practical, relevant and aligned with business needs.
- Identify opportunities to simplify and continuously improve people processes.
- Contribute to consultation, collective bargaining, collective disputes and TUPE activity where required.
What you’ll bring
- Broad generalist HR knowledge, including experience across talent development, organisation design, employee relations, change, performance management, workforce planning and succession.
- Exposure to compensation and benefits and employee engagement.
- Strong communication, influencing and relationship-management skills.
- Commercial awareness and sound business acumen.
- The ability to establish credibility and positively challenge stakeholders.
- Strong facilitation, negotiation and stakeholder-engagement skills.
- A good understanding of people policies, processes and specialist HR services.
- The ability to interpret business and people information, identify trends and turn insights into action.
- Planning, project-management and change-management capability.
- Confidence, independence and a strong belief in the value an effective People function can bring to the business.
- Full driving licence and willingness to travel nationally when required.
It would be great if you also have
- Experience within a manufacturing, engineering or industrial environment.
- Experience working in a unionised setting.
- Exposure to business planning and commercially focused performance measures.
- Experience leading organisational change and consultation activity.
- CIPD Level 5 qualification or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience using HR systems and people analytics to identify improvement opportunities.
