Job summary

London Wildlife Trust is seeking a proactive People & Organisational Support Officer to join the People & Organisational Development team in a hybrid role based in London. You will support recruitment, onboarding, wellbeing and volunteer development, working with colleagues and volunteers to drive a positive employee experience.

The role offers 25 days annual leave, enhanced parental leave, private GP and wellbeing benefits, plus access to coaching and therapy services.

Qualifications

  • Experience in HR/People-related work or volunteer coordination in a charity is desirable.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload.
  • Proficiency with digital systems and a willingness to learn new platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Support full employee lifecycle from recruitment to onboarding and engagement initiatives.
  • First point of contact for HR queries to managers and colleagues.
  • Coordinate and develop the volunteer programme and recruit volunteers.

People & Organisational Support Officer

Salary: £31,714

Contract: Permanent, full time

Location:Head office (Fivefields, 8-10 Grosvenor Gardens, London) and some site travel 1-2 days per week, the remaining from home.

Hours:9:00am – 5:00pm. We welcome flexible working requests from day one.

Role & Responsibilities

We're looking for an organised, proactive and people-focused individual to join our People & Organisational Development team. This is a brilliantly varied role that offers the opportunity to make a real impact across the organisation. You'll be a key point of contact for colleagues, volunteers and managers, supporting everything from recruitment, onboarding and employee wellbeing to volunteer development, learning and development, and organisational projects.

Working within a dynamic team with a broad remit, you'll gain exposure to traditional HR, organisational development, volunteering and organisational operations. You'll also support a range of systems and processes that help the Trust run effectively, including people technology, digital platforms and emerging AI-enabled ways of working.

You’ll be involved in:
  • Supporting the full employee lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding through to learning, development and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Acting as a first point of contact for HR queries, providing excellent support to managers and colleagues across the Trust.
  • Coordinating and developing our volunteer programme, helping volunteer managers recruit, engage and support volunteers.
  • Maintaining and improving key people, volunteer and organisational systems, ensuring data is accurate, compliant and useful
  • Supporting organisational projects across areas including wellbeing, culture, volunteering, technology, AI and continuous improvement
  • Helping ensure our people and organisational operations run smoothly, contributing to an excellent experience for employees and volunteers alike.
Our ideal People & Organisational Support Officer
  • Experience in either an HR/ People related role, or within a volunteer coordination role within a charity
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage a varied workload
  • Confident using digital systems and technology, with a willingness to learn new platforms and ways of working.
  • A proactive problem solver who enjoys improving processes and finding practical solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of people.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for supporting people, volunteers and organisational success.
