Job summary

The Sigma Trust is a forward-thinking family of 12 academies in North East Essex, seeking a People Operations Officer to drive core HR operations for a designated group of schools. You’ll own end-to-end lifecycle tasks, from recruitment to contracts, while liaising with school leaders and People & Culture partners.

You’ll validate safeguarding checks, maintain SCRs, and handle payroll-related changes. A central role with frequent travel to partner schools across the Trust.

Qualifications

• Experience in busy administrative or transactional HR environments.
• Proven experience using modern HR software platforms (Every HR, Arbor, MyNewTerm).
• Meticulous with confidential data in line with GDPR.
• Strong understanding of pre-employment vetting and safer recruitment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with school leaders.

Responsibilities

• Act as primary operational contact for school leaders and HR links.
• Manage central inbox, policy queries, and escalate complex matters.
• Oversee recruitment journeys and employer branding via digital platforms.
• Rigorously validate pre-employment checks and maintain SCR records.
• Prepare contracts, variations, leaver letters, and payroll accuracy.
