DHU are looking for a People and Culture Advisor to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
The Purpose Of The Role
You will support the People & Culture Team in delivering a comprehensive, consistent, and professional service to our customers in line with our CARE values and behavioral framework. Your responsibilities include providing proactive, professional, and consistent Absence Management and People Relations advice and guidance.
A key focus will be maintaining accurate and consistent data, communication, and escalation where required. You will provide expert advice and guidance for key People Relations projects such as, but not limited to; TUPE, Management of Change (MOC), and internal and external audits.
Daily Duties Of a People And Culture Advisor
- Act as the primary point of contact for absence-related matters, including short-term sickness, long-term sickness, family leave, and other statutory or discretionary time off.
- Monitor and track employee absence management, analyze trends, identify patterns, and address issues accordingly.
- Build and maintain good working relationships with colleagues, peers, and all our customers; internal and external, with the confidence to challenge professionally when required.
- Provide advice and guidance regarding Absence Management and People Relations matters, in line with DHU policies and procedures, best practice, and values; seek support from the People & Culture or other DHU teams when needed.
- Support managers with all formal and informal absence meetings and early interventions to prevent prolonged leave periods where possible.
- Assist line managers with Occupational Health referrals, escalations, and coordinate follow-up actions with People & Culture or other departments, such as Health & Safety.
- Ensure consistent and professional correspondence aligned with our CARE values, behavioral framework, policies, procedures, best practices, and UK legislation.
- Maintain employee files in accordance with legislation (GDPR), best practices, CQC, and local compliance requirements, ensuring comprehensive record-keeping of all People Relations matters.
Qualifications and Experience Needed
- A good general education, professional degree-level qualification.
- A relevant professional HR qualification (CIPD level 5 preferred, or level 3 with progress towards level 5).
- Strong ER generalist experience (minimum of 2 years preferred).
- Experience in updating and maintaining HRIS systems and Excel trackers.
- Ability to manage conflicting priorities and workloads efficiently.
