Job summary

The JobsBoard is seeking a People Advisor (Employee Relations) to support managers across East Kent and sites, guiding disciplinaries, grievances, capability cases, and consultations with a restorative focus.

You will report to the Group Head of People, help shape people principles, and drive broader HR projects while staying visible on site to build trust with operational teams.

Qualifications

• At least three years’ HR experience with a strong employee relations focus.
• CIPD Level 5 qualified, or working towards Level 7.
• Experience of designing and delivering people-related training.
• Up-to-date knowledge of employment law and best practice.

Responsibilities

• Guide managers through disciplinaries, grievances, capability cases and consultations.
• Coach managers to apply policy consistently and manage risk.
• Help shape consistent people principles across the business and get involved in wider projects.

Job: People Advisor - Employee Relations

Location: East Kent / with travel to sites

Employment type: Fixed-Term Contract (Maternity Cover starting 23rd November – end of December 2027), Full-time

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 DOE + Car Allowance £4,500

Sirius Search is partnering with a long-established, multi-site construction business to appoint a People Advisor (Employee Relations). This is a pivotal role within a respected People team, ideal for an ER specialist who enjoys being out in the business, upskilling managers, rather than behind a desk.

The role

You’ll be the go-to People Advisor for managers across the group. You’ll guide them through disciplinaries, grievances, capability cases and consultations, with a real focus on resolving issues early and restoratively wherever possible. You’ll coach managers to apply policy consistently, spot and manage risk, and know when a case needs escalating. Reporting to the Group Head of People, you’ll also help shape consistent people principles across the business and get involved in wider projects.

The role also includes:

• Designing and delivering training that builds genuine management capability.
• Using absence, turnover and exit data to spot trends and drive improvements.
• Supporting onboarding and induction for new managers.
• Keeping a visible presence on site, building trust with operational teams.

About you

• At least three years’ HR experience with a strong employee relations focus, ideally in a multi-site organisation.
• CIPD Level 5 qualified, or working towards Level 7.
• Experience of designing and delivering people-related training.
• Up-to-date knowledge of employment law and best practice, and the confidence to advise at all levels.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, well organised, and comfortable juggling competing priorities.
