Job summary

Wade Macdonald is recruiting a People Advisor (ER) on a 6-month FTC with hybrid work at Richmond, including one day at home. The role focuses on managing a busy employee relations caseload and providing practical, employment-law aligned guidance to People Partners and managers.

You will support wellbeing initiatives, ensure policy compliance, and contribute to wider HR projects, with opportunities for extended involvement depending on business needs.

Qualifications

• 4+ years' experience in HR and employee relations.
• Strong employment law knowledge.
• Confident handling of disciplinary, grievance, performance and absence management.

Responsibilities

• Manage a varied, high-volume ER caseload (sickness absence, performance, disciplinary and grievance).
• Advise and coach managers through ER processes, ensuring fair and consistent approach.
• Act as a key point of contact for People queries.
• Support wellbeing and engagement initiatives.
• Ensure HR practices comply with employment legislation, GDPR, equality and safeguarding.
• Support wider People projects including performance, appraisal, training and engagement.

About the Job

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced People Advisor to join the team on an initial 6-month FTC, with a significant focus on employee relations and with potential for other opportunities arising. You’ll work closely with People Partners and managers across the organisation, managing a busy ER caseload and providing confident, practical advice in line with employment law and internal policies.

• Managing a varied and high-volume ER caseload, including sickness absence, performance, disciplinary and grievance matters
• Advising and coaching managers through ER processes and ensuring a fair and consistent approach
• Acting as a key point of contact for People queries
• Supporting employee wellbeing and engagement initiatives

About the Successful Applicant

You’ll be an experienced HR professional with at least 4 years' experience within HR and employee relations. You’ll have strong employment law knowledge and be confident handling disciplinary, grievance, performance and absence management matters. You’ll be inquisitive, tenacious and comfortable digging into the detail to establish the facts, while remaining pragmatic and solutions-focused.
