12 months fixed term contract

We\'re looking for an experienced People Advisor on a 12-month fixed-term contract, providing high-quality advice and support to managers and colleagues across the organisation.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience in employee relations and people casework who enjoys working collaboratively to find practical, fair and effective solutions. You\'ll join a busy and supportive team where you can build on your existing experience while making a real difference to the colleague experience.

Working closely with managers and stakeholders across the organisation, you\'ll help create a fair, consistent and supportive working environment where colleagues can perform at their best and thrive.

Working pattern

This role operates on a hybrid working basis. You\'ll be based at the Liverpool office on Mondays and our St Helens office on Tuesdays. Your third office-based day will be at one of our other locations, depending on business needs.

What you\'ll be doing
  • Managing a varied employee relations caseload, providing clear, practical and timely advice to managers and colleagues.
  • Supporting managers through performance management processes, including capability, development plans and effective use of people data and systems.
  • Leading on attendance management, including absence monitoring, return-to-work processes and complex or long-term absence cases.
  • Providing advice and guidance on employment policies, procedures, legislation and best practice.
  • Building strong relationships with managers and acting as a trusted point of contact for people-related advice and support.
  • Working collaboratively with Housing, Assets and Corporate teams to deliver a consistent and effective People service.
  • Supporting recruitment, retention, talent development and apprenticeship programmes across the organisation.
  • Contributing to the delivery of the People Strategy, corporate initiatives and organisational transformation projects.
  • Helping identify learning and development needs and sourcing appropriate training solutions.
  • Maintaining accurate and confidential employee records, ensuring data integrity and audit requirements are met.
  • Working positively with trade unions to build and maintain constructive relationships.
  • Promoting value for money through efficient processes, effective systems and continuous improvement.
  • Ensuring all activity complies with health and safety, equality and safeguarding requirements.
What we\'re looking for

We\'re looking for someone who can combine strong technical knowledge with a practical, people-focused approach. You\'ll have:

  • Experience working in a HR or People advisory role, providing advice and guidance on employee relations and wider people matters.
  • A good understanding of employment legislation, HR policies and people management best practice.
  • Strong case management skills, with experience handling a varied employee relations caseload, including attendance, conduct, performance, capability and other complex people matters.
  • The ability to assess situations objectively, gather relevant information, provide balanced recommendations and progress cases through to resolution.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to build relationships, manage sensitive conversations and achieve positive outcomes.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, work independently and maintain a high level of accuracy.
  • Confidence using a range of IT systems to maintain records, produce reports, analyse information and support effective decision-making.
  • A proactive, resilient and customer-focused approach, with a commitment to delivering a high-quality service and continually improving how we work.
