Job summary

Greggs seeks a Retail People Advisor to support the South East region from the London area on a part-time basis (Wed-Fri). You will assist in developing and implementing the regional people plan, coaching shop management on policies and processes, and driving a collaborative people-focused culture across multi-site operations.

Key requirements include HR experience, ideally CIPD qualified, strong communication, and organisational skills, plus an ability to influence decisions and manage

Responsibilities

  • Support the Retail People Manager in developing the regional people plan
  • Implement the plan in the South East Region and model effective people management
  • Coach Area/Shop Management on policies, procedures and strategy
  • Ensure consistent disciplinary, grievance and employee consultation processes
  • Build relationships with regional union representatives
  • Identify gaps in policies and assist in updates
  • Deliver training to Shop Management on People policies
  • Support recruitment, succession planning and performance management
  • Participate in projects with the Retail People Manager
  • Support absence and wellbeing management in the region
  • Promote leadership culture in line with company values
  • Assist in Employment Tribunal bundles with timely submission
  • Attend regional Union meetings and support consultation activities

Job description

About the role
  • This is a part-time role, working Wednesday to Friday

What you'll do
  • Support the Retail People Manager in the development of the regional people plan
  • Effectively implement the people plan within the South East Region, acting as a role model for all people management activities
  • Coach and support Area/Shop Management to ensure an effective understanding of their role and responsibilities with regards to people policies, procedures and strategy
  • Ensure an effective and consistent approach to people management in relation to disciplinary, grievance and employee consultation
  • Build an effective working relationship with regional union representatives
  • Communicate to the RetailPeople Manager any gaps or development needs in relation to people policies and procedures, and assisting in reviewing/updating existing policies and procedures
  • Deliver training to ShopManagementteams in relation to People policies and processes
  • Support recruitment, succession planning and performance managementactivities within the territory
  • Participate in projects as identified and agreed with the Retail People Manager
  • Support the managementof all employee absence and wellbeing within the region
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm and encourage teams in line with company values, promoting a culture of leadership
  • Assist in the preparation of Employment Tribunal bundles, ensuring documentation is accurate, complete, and submitted within required timescales.
  • Attend and contribute to regional Union meetings, building effective relationships with Union representatives and supporting consultation activities.
About you

You will fit right into this role if you:

  • Previous experience of working within a HR role, ideally across multi sites
  • Ideally CIPD qualified
  • A proven track record of delivering great results, developing people and dealing with complex people situations
  • Experience of juggling high priority tasks to ensure timeframes are met
  • Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills across all levels
  • Ability to influence the right decision and outcome to ensure the company is always kept legal
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills, in English, and the ability to present ideas and opportunities (including using known presentational tools)
  • IT skills including Microsoft 365; SharePoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams
  • Full UK driving license as role will involve travel
