Job description

A hands‑on People Advisor role with real ER ownership, manager coaching and the chance to influence engagement and wellbeing in a fast-moving horticulture business.

People Advisor
The Opportunity

This is a great opportunity for a confident People Advisor or HR Advisor who enjoys being close to the business, supporting managers and making a practical difference to the colleague experience.

You’ll join a leading FMCG business with a busy operational environment and a people agenda that goes beyond day‑to‑day HR administration. The role will give you broad generalist exposure, including ER case management, recruitment support, manager advice, people processes, engagement activity and wellbeing initiatives.

This would suit someone who likes variety, enjoys building relationships with managers and is comfortable balancing hands‑on HR delivery with more proactive people‑focused work.

Bedfordshire

Full‑time, primarily office‑based with hybrid flexibility open to discussion

£32,000 - £35,000 DOE

Key Responsibilities
  • Managing employee relations casework including absence, conduct, capability, grievance and performance matters.
  • Coaching and advising managers so they feel confident handling people issues fairly and consistently.
  • Supporting recruitment activity, onboarding and wider employee lifecycle processes.
  • Preparing letters, notes, documentation and people records with accuracy and care.
  • Contributing to engagement, wellbeing and colleague experience initiatives.
  • Helping ensure HR policies, processes and practices are followed in a practical and consistent way.
What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone with solid generalist HR experience and the confidence to give clear, practical advice to managers.

You’ll probably bring:

  • Experience in a People Advisor, HR Advisor, HR Officer or similar generalist HR role.
  • Good exposure to ER case management and UK employment law.
  • Confidence supporting and coaching line managers.
  • A hands‑on approach, including willingness to manage your own admin and documentation.
  • Experience supporting recruitment or wider employee lifecycle activity.
  • Exposure to engagement, wellbeing or people initiatives would be highly useful.

Strong organisation, discretion and the ability to manage sensitive situations professionally. Experience in FMCG, manufacturing or another fast‑paced operational environment would be advantageous, but attitude, judgement and strong generalist HR experience are the key priorities.

Why Join?

This is a broad, practical People Advisor role where you’ll be close to managers, colleagues and the day‑to‑day reality of the business.

You’ll have the opportunity to build credibility as a trusted HR contact, handle meaningful casework and support positive people activity around engagement and wellbeing. It is a good move for someone who wants more ownership, more exposure and a role where HR is visible within the business.

The role offers a salary of £32,000 - £35,000 depending on experience, with full‑time hours and a primarily office‑based working pattern, with some hybrid flexibility open to discussion.
