XPS Group in Guildford is offering a 1-year Student Placement in Actuarial Team starting September 2027. This paid placement gives exposure to real client work and a pathway to a Graduate role in the future.

You will support valuation calculations, member valuations, and long-term strategy advice, while developing skills across Excel, data analysis, and client service. Applicants should be pursuing a numerate degree, be organised, collaborative, and ready to contribute to a supportive actuarial

Qualifications

• Successful candidates will be working towards a minimum of a 2:1 honours degree in any discipline, ideally mathematics, economics or a science-based subject.
• Please ensure that you include individual module marks for your university degree to date within your CV.
• A grade (or higher) at A-Level in mathematics is required.

We are currently taking applications for undergraduates looking to pursue a placement year starting in September 2027. This role will be a 1 year placement in one of our vibrant offices. There will be the possibility of a Graduate role in the future.

Our actuaries work closely with trustees and plan sponsors to devise a funding plan suited to each scheme - within the constraints of legislation. Each of our offices offering placements provide actuarial and consultancy advice to a range of trustee and corporate clients and are part of a larger actuarial community across all of our UK office locations.

Our placement students are exposed to a variety of real client issues and from the start you will become a valuable member of a motivated, supportive and sociable team. Our students are exposed to all aspects of the work of our actuarial team, for example carrying out individual member calculations, valuations of benefits for pension schemes and advising on clients’ long-term strategies. We believe that the experience we offer our placement students allows them to develop invaluable skills that will help them greatly with their future studies and career.

Your Profile:

• Successful candidates will have excellent organisation skills as well as the ability to “think outside the box” to deliver solutions for our clients. It is also really important that the candidate works well with others as part of a team. Essential Qualifications
