Consult is recruiting for a senior pensions consultant to join their Risk Transfer team. The role focuses on post-transaction buyout and wind-up phases, while also engaging a wide client base across advisory and broking activities.

You will project-manage a portfolio of clients, coordinate with multiple teams and stakeholders, and contribute to planning and budgeting for buyout journeys. Strong consulting, communication and client-facing skills are essential.

This is a nationwide, hybrid appointment.

Our client, a multinational consulting and broking business that works with some of the largest clients in the UK, is looking for talented and ambitious pensions consultants who are keen to further their career. This is an opportunity to join their expanding Risk Transfer team, providing clients with advice on the journey to buy-in, broking the market and winding up schemes. They are looking for individuals with excellent communication and project management skills, adaptability, business acumen and a desire to be in front of clients, all underpinned by the required consulting skills and experience.

The Role

• Bulk annuity broking and winding up pension schemes is fast becoming an increasingly important role as part of the run-off of DB schemes and delivering service excellence in this area will be crucial to our client’s overall delivery.
• Becoming an integral member of the Risk Transfer team, this role will have a predominant focus on the post-transaction, buyout and wind-up phases. However, you will also be afforded the opportunity to work on a wide range of clients, complimenting their buy-in journey at all stages, including pre-transaction.
• You will work on a wide portfolio of clients and will be part of the team managing the project and leading on those client relationships.
• Project manage a portfolio of clients to help them achieve their buyout and winding up objectives and co-ordinate all the relevant teams and client stakeholders.
• Develop and prepare project plans and have input into setting budgets.

Essential experience

• A background in risk transfer, bulk annuity broking and pension scheme wind-ups is preferable.
• An understanding of the journey to buyout for pensions schemes including key considerations.
• Excellent communication and consulting skills and a proven track record of client exposure.
• Excellent project management and organisational abilities, in order to prioritise and complete work and meet project deadlines.
