Are you a DB Pensions Specialist looking to get more involved in Special Projects? Our client has a dedicated Projects team and, due to continued success, is looking to add to their team on a remote working basis. If you have experience working in an actuarial team or come from a technical or administrative pensions background with experience in pensions calculations and advanced Excel skills (VLookups/Macros), then this could be the role for you! This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to expand their actuarial career, with full study support available if you wish to start or continue the actuarial exams. Salary increments are available for exam passes! Or if you are just seeking a Specialist Pension role where you can utilize your technical knowledge, this could also be of interest.

What You’ll Be Doing:

You will play a significant role in various DB pensions projects, including working with occupational DB pension clients, public sector DB pension clients, and bulk annuity providers. Your tasks may include:

  • Benefits and data due diligence
  • Data validation and improvement/creation projects
  • Calculations testing (manual calculations and error identification in automated calculations)
  • Creating or reviewing benefit summary specifications
  • Attending client meetings and calls, and acting as a primary contact on some projects
  • Producing and reviewing consulting reports
  • Supporting and supervising junior team members

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervising and checking the work of junior team members, offering timely feedback and development support
  • Collaborating with actuaries within the special projects team and across the wider actuarial department
  • Maintaining a robust audit trail for all work activities
  • Liaising with internal teams to resolve issues efficiently and accurately
  • Managing the team’s workflow to ensure timely client delivery
  • Keeping up to date with pensions’ regulatory developments

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Experience in a technical or administrative role within DB pensions or currently working in an actuarial team (part-qualified or qualified by experience)
  • Advanced Excel skills (VLookups/Macros)
  • Practical experience with DB pensions calculations
  • Familiarity with public sector pensions (advantageous)
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication skills with both actuaries and non-actuaries
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work independently or as part of a team
