Job summary

Legal & General, a leading UK financial services group, is recruiting a Payroll Consultant to join the Institutional Retirement – Client Services team. You will help ensure pensioner payrolls transition smoothly and accurately, handling data loads and payments with precision.

The role offers a collaborative culture, opportunities to develop skills in regulatory compliance (GDPR, AML), and flexible working options, including part-time and job-share arrangements.

Qualifications

• Experience handling data and using Excel functions.
• Experience loading benefits or data into administration systems.
• Organise and prioritise workload to meet deadlines.
• Strong customer focus and relationship-building skills.
• Understanding of defined benefit pension schemes is beneficial.
• Knowledge of GDPR, AML and complaints handling is beneficial.
• Pension/payroll qualifications (CII/PMI/CPP) or equivalent experience is beneficial.
• Proactive approach to identifying and reducing risks in processes.

Responsibilities

• Load pensioner scheme data and amendments onto administration systems.
• Manage buy-in payments and true-up calculations within timescales.
• Reconcile payments and benefits to match specifications.
• Test and document processes to improve consistency and quality.
• Maintain robust audit trails across data items.
• Inform internal teams and third parties to support outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with GDPR and treating customers fairly.
• Collaborate across teams for timely, customer-focused service delivery.
