Overview

A vacancy at Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH). An exciting opportunity has arisen for a peer support worker with lived experience to join the Home Treatment Team/Crisis Team. The post holder is required to work with service users with mental health needs to promote recovery, support connections and reduce isolation.

Responsibilities
  • Provide practical and regular support to service users and carers in various community settings, with a focus on socially inclusive activities and recovery. Activities may include supporting patients with engaging with community services, attending appointments and assisting with daily living activities.
  • Work alongside practitioners to facilitate peer support groups and offer a lived experience element to instill hope in patients’ recovery journey.
  • Support the delivery of community-based groups and help build links with partner agencies to signpost patients to services that increase meaningful activity and engagement in their lives.
Qualifications and requirements
  • Role designed for a peer support worker with lived experience of mental health.
  • There is an opportunity to undertake a Level 3 apprenticeship qualification relevant to the role if the candidate does not already hold a Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience.
  • As an apprentice within RDaSH, you will gain experience, develop work-related skills and acquire the tools needed to thrive. Apprenticeships include regular training with a college or training organisation, with around 20% of working hours spent training or studying to achieve a nationally recognised qualification.
  • Whether you already work for RDaSH or are joining the Trust and NHS for the first time, apprenticeships can help develop the skills, knowledge and know-how for a successful career in health services.
