Isle of Wight NHS Trust is seeking a Paediatric Outpatients Healthcare Assistant to join the Children's Outpatient Department in Newport on a part-time basis (25 hours per week, Monday to Friday). The role involves dealing with face-to-face, e-mail and telephone enquiries, preparing consultation rooms, notes and results, and assisting with blood clinics and basic patient monitoring under supervision.

The post offers Band 3 with a pro rata salary (£25,760–£27,476 per annum) but actual salary

Qualifications

• Experience working with children.
• Excellent communication across a range of ages and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Deal with face-to-face, e-mail and telephone enquiries, redirecting to others as appropriate, and recording and prioritising messages.
• Communicate with all members of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure the smooth running of the clinic, keeping the patient informed of changes and delays.
• Prepare consultation rooms in readiness for clinics and investigations undertaking general housekeeping duties.
• Prepare clinic including notes and results.
• Obtain specimens of body fluids as requested by the qualified nurse after training.
• Assist in monitoring patients’ blood pressure, temperature, pulse, ECG, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation.
• Assisting with blood clinics and taking of blood.
