Qualifications

• Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
• NVQ Level 3 Pharmacy Services and a BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science.
• Level 4 or equivalent dispensary accuracy checking qualification.
• Experience supervising pharmacy technicians and assistants.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe, efficient, accurate pharmacy service to neurodiversity and ward patients as needed.
• Support the Lead pharmacist for Developmental Paediatrics and Senior Technician in safe, cost-effective medicines use.
• Complete medicines reconciliation for inpatients and ward patients.
• Safely dispense and issue prescriptions to patients.
• Provide drug stock supplies to wards and departments using available systems.
• Review and supply medicines to patients on discharge from hospital.
• Carry out final accuracy checks of clinically screened prescriptions.
• Advise patients and carers on medicines usage and supply.
• Support department training for technicians, pre-registration pharmacists and assistants.
• Review and maintain medicines lists and SOPs with the team.
• Assist in audit workstreams and project initiatives.
• Assist in medication-related documentation and patient information materials.
• Coordinate with community pharmacies on prescription issues.
• Provide education sessions and workshops for ND team and patient groups.
• Develop and maintain safety alerts related to ND medicines.
• Support in ensuring stock control and cost-effective procurement.
• Liaise with PCO to inform patients of prescription pathways and improve communication.
• Provide ad hoc cover for the Main Pharmacy service as required.
