Job summary

Teach South is seeking a PE Teacher / Sports Coach for flexible supply work in Eastbourne and surrounding East Sussex. You can choose to work full-time or part-time from September 2026, with QTS not essential and support from a dedicated education recruitment team.

Deliver PE lessons, coach sport, and adapt activities to different abilities across multiple schools. You’ll help students develop confidence, stay safe, and participate enthusiastically in physical education.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching, coaching or leading sports activities.
• Confidence working with children or young people.
• Good communication and classroom/group management skills.
• QTS is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Deliver PE lessons and sports activities.
• Follow lesson plans and activities provided by the school.
• Support students in developing sporting skills and confidence.
• Maintain a positive and safe learning environment.
• Manage groups of students effectively.
• Encourage participation and positive attitudes towards sport.
• Adapt activities to suit different abilities.
• Support the school with general cover where appropriate.

PE Teacher / Sports Coach – Flexible Supply Work
Are you a PE Teacher, Sports Coach or experienced sports professional looking for flexible work in schools across Eastbourne?
We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable individuals to support schools on a supply basis from September. This is a flexible opportunity where you can choose to work full-time or part-time, making it ideal for those looking to fit school work around other commitments.
QTS is not essential for this role. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience coaching or teaching sport who are confident working with young people.
The roleAs a PE Teacher / Sports Coach, you may be asked to:

• Deliver PE lessons and sports activities
• Follow lesson plans and activities provided by the school
• Support students in developing their sporting skills and confidence
• Maintain a positive and safe learning environment
• Manage groups of students effectively
• Encourage participation and positive attitudes towards sport

• A positive and enthusiastic approach
• The ability to engage students and encourage participation
• Reliability and flexibility
• QTS is desirable but not essential

This could suit a qualified PE Teacher, Cover Supervisor, Sports Coach, former professional athlete, sports graduate or someone with strong experience delivering sports activities to young people.
