Job summary

Malloy Aeronautics is seeking a detail-focused PCB Manufacturing Technician in Berkshire, UK. You will work from engineering drawings to produce high-quality PCBs for our unmanned aircraft systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with build instructions.

You will solder, assemble, test and inspect boards, while supporting continuous improvement and working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. Security clearance is required and residence in the UK is expected.

Qualifications

  • Must have hands-on PCB manufacture experience.
  • Able to read and interpret electromechanical drawings and build sequence instructions.
  • Skilled in soldering and PCB assembly processes.
  • Capable of spotting and correcting pick-and-place errors.
  • Attention to detail with quality inspection of boards.
  • Able to manage stock levels and reorder triggers.

Responsibilities

  • Manufacture, assemble and test printed circuit boards for unmanned vehicles.
  • Use diverse electrical and mechanical engineering skills in production.
  • Report failures quickly and safely and support troubleshooting.
  • Train and assist colleagues as needed.
  • Maintain accuracy of BOM and route cards against stock.
  • Visually inspect bare and finished boards and support AOI verification.

What are we looking for?

We're seeking a skilled and detail-focused PCB Manufacturing Technician with experience in PCB assembly and electronic manufacturing. You'll be confident working from engineering drawings and build instructions, take pride in producing high-quality work, and enjoy working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. A proactive approach, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement will help you succeed in this role.

Ability to hold Security Clearance - 5 years residence in the UK
What you’ll be doing (but not limited to):
  • Manufacture, assemble and test printed circuit boards for installation in our unmanned vehicles.
  • Utilise a wide range of electrical and mechanical engineering skills throughout the manufacture.
  • Report and respond to any failures quickly and safely.
  • Training and assisting other staff as required
  • Proven dexterity, speed and attention to detail whilst building complex systems.
  • Confirmation of bill of material and route card against existing stock levels.
  • Visual inspection of bare boards, application of solder pastes through stencil plate.
  • Set up and build of PCB assembly through pick and place machinery, and manual component placement.
  • Heat drying of PCB using established oven curing parameters.
  • Visual inspection of completed PCB, and verification through Automatic Inspection facility and the 'golden board'.
Essential Skills and Experiences:
  • Previous experience of PCB manufacture.
  • Ability to solder and understand electromechanical drawings and build sequence instructions.
  • Ability to observe and physically correct any 'pick and place' errors regarding omissions and / or orientation
  • Ability to understand build sequence instructions.
  • Stock validation and identify minimum stock levels for re-order triggers.
  • Manual dexterity, attention to detail
  • Must be adaptable, flexible and open to change in a fast-paced business.
Desired Skills and Experiences
  • Able to demonstrate hands on experience in previous roles as an electromechanical technician, in an engineering discipline.
  • Previous experience of working with electronic assemblies and printed circuit boards.
  • Familiarity with wet solder and pick and place technologies.
  • Able to multitask and work in a detail conscious, high pressure and task-oriented environment.
  • Consider process or product improvement in the course of daily duties.
  • Competent in use of Microsoft applications.
  • Health and Safety awareness.
