Job summary

Halmer Group is seeking a PCB Assembly Operative to join a Berkshire-based electronics production team. The role focuses on hands-on PCB and component assembly with potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

You will work in a detail-oriented, fast-paced environment, following written instructions and quality standards while maintaining safety and documentation requirements. Prior electronics experience is advantageous.

Qualifications

  • Good manual dexterity and attention to detail required.
  • Ability to follow written work instructions and production docs.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills needed for documentation.
  • Ability to work as part of a production team.
  • Electronics assembly experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble PCBs and electronic components to production standards.
  • Place components and perform through-hole assembly as trained.
  • Hand soldering where trained and support SMT processes.
  • Carry out sub-assembly work and visual inspection for defects.
  • Follow drawings, SOPs and quality procedures to the letter.
  • Handle ESD-sensitive components correctly and maintain traceability.
  • Complete production, quality and documentation records.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment and report issues.
  • Support other areas of the assembly team when required.

PCB Assembly Operative / Electronics Assembler

Reading |£13.71 per hour | Temporary / Potential to go Perm

Are you an Assembly Operative, PCB Assembler or Electronics Assembler looking for your next opportunity within electronics manufacturing? We are recruiting on behalf of an established electronics manufacturing client in Berkshire for a PCB Assembly Operative to join their production team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with good attention to detail and manual dexterity who enjoys hands-on assembly work. Previous electronics or PCB assembly experience would be advantageous, although candidates with transferable manufacturing or production experience are also encouraged to apply.

Importantly, there is potential for this position to become permanent for the right candidate.

The Role

As a PCB Assembly Operative, you will be involved in the assembly and production of printed circuit boards (PCBs) and electronic components, working to defined quality standards and production instructions.

  • Assembling printed circuit boards (PCBs) and electronic components
  • Component placement and through-hole assembly
  • Hand soldering, where trained
  • Supporting SMT assembly processes and machinery, where trained
  • Carrying out electronic and mechanical sub-assembly work
  • Visually inspecting completed work for defects and non-conformances
  • Following drawings, work instructions and standard operating procedures
  • Handling ESD-sensitive electronic components correctly
  • Completing production, quality and traceability documentation
  • Working towards production targets while maintaining quality and accuracy
  • Identifying and reporting component shortages, defects or production issues
  • Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment
  • Supporting other areas of the assembly department when required
What We're Looking For
