Job summary

Aspire People is recruiting a dedicated Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to support male Post-16 learners in a Birmingham education setting. The role focuses on personal care, mobility support and daily living assistance, ensuring learners are safe, respected and engaged throughout the college day.

Qualifications

• Previous experience with young people or adults with learning disabilities, SEND or additional needs is highly desirable.
• Experience in personal care, support work, education, residential care, healthcare or similar environments is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care, including toileting, personal hygiene, dressing and daily living support.
• Support learners with mobility and physical needs; assist with moving and handling where required.
• Help learners access classrooms, activities and the wider college environment.
• Encourage independence and life skills; support learners to do as much themselves as possible.
• Provide practical support during lessons and activities.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with learners while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Support learners with communication, sensory, emotional or behavioural needs.
• Follow individual care plans, risk assessments and support plans.
• Collaborate with teachers, support staff, therapists and other professionals for consistent support.
• Promote dignity, privacy and independence at all times.
• Assist learners with preparation for adulthood and developing daily living skills.
