Job summary

Cygnet is seeking a Payroll Team Lead to oversee day-to-day payroll activities and mentor the payroll team across multiple sites. You will support end-to-end processing, perform reconciliations, and ensure accurate HMRC submissions while upholding compliance and service levels.

Qualifications

• Experience in end-to-end payroll processing.
• Ability to mentor and develop payroll staff.
• Knowledge of HMRC submissions and payroll compliance.

Responsibilities

• Support the end-to-end payroll cycle for the business, including hands on processing where required.
• Complete manual backups on the agreed schedule and review regular payroll runs for accuracy.
• Assist with HMRC communications such as tax code downloads, FPS and EPS submissions.
• Lead and mentor the payroll team to support training and professional development.
• Manage payroll calendars, reconciliations and month-end closings.
• Provide cover for colleagues during periods of absence and high workload.
