Job summary

William Jackson Food Group is recruiting a Payroll Specialist for a part-time, hybrid role in Hessle/Hull. You will support the outsourced payroll for the group across weekly, 4-weekly and monthly cycles, liaising with the third-party provider and internal teams to ensure timely, accurate data and compliant processing.

The ideal candidate has payroll experience (including starters, leavers, tax, NI, and statutory payments) and is proficient with iTrent, PeopleFirst and Excel, with a strong eye

Qualifications

• Outsourced payroll across the Group with weekly, 4-weekly and monthly pay frequencies.
• Experience in payroll including starters, leavers, changes of terms, tax, NI and statutory leave.
• Strong numeracy and attention to detail; able to perform manual calculations when required.
• Experience with iTrent and related payroll systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver outsourced payroll for the whole Group in a hybrid Hessle-based role.
• liaise with businesses to submit payroll data on time per agreed processes.
• Review and transfer data from businesses to PeopleFirst and iTrent.
• Support People teams to improve payroll processes and efficiency.
• Handle payroll queries with clear, customer-focused communication.

Job description

Part Time - 22.5-30 hours per week | Hybrid (Hessle, Hull) | Fixed-term until July 2027 Reporting to the Group Payroll Manager to deliver an outsourced payroll for the whole Group, working with a third-party payroll provider and our different businesses to deliver efficient and accurate payroll processing across weekly, 4-weekly and monthly pay frequencies. This role will be most suited to someone who has previously been in a payroll position, ideally with iTrent experience, and who is looking to develop their knowledge and gain broader experience. Some of the key activities for a Payroll Specialist include:

• Using itrent, business objects and peoplefirst.
• Liaise with our businesses to ensure payroll data is submitted on time and in line with agreed processes
• Responsible for the seamless transfer of data from the businesses, to peoplefirst and itrent, review the People First scheduler output into iTrent and ensure the correct data has been transferred
• Work with the People teams to foster an engaged relationship with the outsourced model, continuously reviewing processes to achieve further efficiencies.
• Carry out manual calculations as and when necessary
• Investigate, explain and resolve payroll queries
  Recent payroll experience to have included starters, leavers, changes of terms, tax, NI, statutory leave and payments, attachment of earnings, NMW compliance, with the ability to perform manual calculations of these elements when required
• Be highly skilled at using excel including using v-look ups, pivot tables and macros for various financial reporting requirements
• Excellent attention to detail and have a high level of numeracy skills
• Along with HMRC legislation and payroll knowledge, you will also have a working knowledge of pension legislation and procedures
