Adecco is seeking a detail-focused Payroll Specialist for a temporary 18-month role in Chesterton, Newcastle-under-Lyme. The position involves end-to-end payroll processing, from starters to leavers, with weekly and monthly cycles, ensuring accuracy and on-time payments.

You will handle payroll reconciliations, respond to employee queries, and work closely with HR and finance to continuously improve controls and processes.

Qualifications

• Experience in payroll processing, ideally within logistics/transportation.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Proficient in payroll software and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• End to end payroll processing including starters, leavers and changes, adjustments (overtime), SSP, SMP, SPP, and attachment of Earnings.
• Process and reconcile monthly and weekly payrolls to ensure compliance with contractual and statutory obligations.
• Respond to enquiries from employees and stakeholders in a timely and accurate manner.
• Maintain payroll controls and reconcile discrepancies to ensure timely resolution.
• Develop and enhance payroll processes and controls.
• Ensure compliance with payroll regulations and organisational policies.
• Maintain payroll records and resolve discrepancies.
• Collaborate with HR and finance teams to ensure seamless payroll operations.

Location: Chesterton, Newcastle-under-Lyme
Hourly Rate: 17.95 - 19.23
Contract Type: Temporary, 18 month position.
Working Pattern: Full Time. Monday-Friday

As a Payroll Specialist you will be responsible for:

• End to end payroll processing - including starters, leavers and changes, adjustments (overtime), SSP, SMP, SPP, and attachment of Earnings.
• Management, processing and reconciliation of monthly and weekly payrolls to maintain compliance with contractual and statutory obligations.
• Responding to enquiries from employees and stakeholders in a timely and accurate manner.
• Maintain a high standard control environment ensuring all payroll reconciliations are completed timely and issues resolved.
• Development, management and enhancement of Payroll processes and controls.
• Ensure compliance with payroll regulations and organisational policies.
• Maintain payroll records and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with HR and finance teams to ensure seamless payroll operations.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Proven experience in payroll processing, preferably within the logistics or transportation sector.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented atmosphere.
• Proficient in payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite
• Demonstrable payroll experience 3-5 years.
• Flexibility - working as part of a team and dealing with varying workloads.
• Systems - experience of SAP, ADP & WorkDay, beneficial.
