Job summary

Brook Street is recruiting a Payroll Manager for a 6-month fixed-term contract. You will lead end-to-end payroll across multiple group sites, ensuring accurate and timely payments.

You'll administer pensions (NEST), ensure HMRC compliance, manage payroll records, and deliver insightful payroll reporting to senior finance teams. Strong Excel and confidentiality are essential.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end monthly payroll across multiple group companies, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Administer pensions, enrolments, contributions, and auto-enrolment compliance.
• Ensure HMRC compliance for PAYE, NI, SSP, SMP and pension rules.
• Maintain and reconcile payroll records, deductions, benefits and control accounts.
• Produce payroll reports for senior leadership and finance teams.
• Be the primary contact for payroll queries from staff, managers and external bodies.
• Submit FPS, EPS, P60s, P11Ds and other required reporting.
• Support month-end/year-end payroll journals and reconciliations.
• Identify process improvements to boost efficiency and accuracy.
• Support audits and ensure data protection standards are met.

Our Client is hiring for a reputed client to lead the end-to-end payroll function across the group, working closely with finance and operational teams across multiple sites.

What you’ll be doing:

• Own the end-to-end monthly payroll process across multiple group companies, ensuring accurate, timely payment
• Administer workplace pensions, including employee enrolments, contributions, and NEST auto-enrolment compliance
• Ensure HMRC payroll compliance across PAYE, National Insurance, SSP, SMP, and relevant pension requirements
• Maintain and reconcile payroll records, deductions, benefits, pensions, and payroll control accounts
• Produce payroll reports, analysis and management information for senior leadership and finance teams
• Be the primary contact for payroll queries from employees, managers, pension providers and external bodies
• Manage statutory submissions including FPS, EPS, P60s and P11Ds (and other required reporting)
• Support month-end and year-end activities with payroll journals, reconciliations and supporting documentation
• Identify process, control and system improvements to boost efficiency and accuracy
• Support audits and ensure payroll records meet company policy, regulatory standards and data protection expectations

What you’ll bring:

• Proven experience managing end-to-end payroll processes
• Strong working knowledge of Sage 50 Payroll
• Experience administering workplace pensions, including NEST
• Confident understanding of HMRC payroll legislation and statutory requirements
• Strong Excel skills and a knack for clear payroll reporting
• Exceptional attention to detail, strong organisation, and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion
