Job summary

Crown Holdings, Inc. seeks an experienced Payroll Manager to lead the UK payroll operation across seven sites, supporting about 1,100 employees. You will manage a team of payroll administrators and an assistant payroll manager, ensuring accurate, timely payroll processing and compliance with UK legislation.

You will work with HR, Finance, site leadership, and external providers to drive continuous improvement, enhance controls, and optimize payroll systems and processes.

Qualifications

  • CIPP qualification or equivalent payroll experience.
  • Significant experience managing in-house payroll operations.
  • Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and HMRC requirements.
  • Experience leading and developing payroll teams.
  • Experience with integrated HR and payroll systems.
  • Experience with payroll audits and controls.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of UK payroll across seven manufacturing sites and ~1,100 employees.
  • Manage end-to-end payroll operations including pensions, bonuses, salary reviews, and year-end activities.
  • Oversee payroll accounting: journals, reconciliations, control accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with UK payroll legislation, HMRC, and SOX controls.
  • Serve as payroll subject matter expert and lead audits with auditors/external providers.
  • Drive improvements, automation, and system enhancements.
