Job description

Job Category: HR, Finance & Administration

Love working with numbers? Passionate about accuracy and efficiency? Ready to take ownership of a payroll function and make a real impact?

At Tyrefix Group, we're growing rapidly through ongoing acquisitions that bring new businesses and opportunities into the Group. As we continue to expand, we're looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to take the lead in shaping and developing our payroll function.

This is a newly created, standalone position offering genuine ownership, autonomy and the opportunity to make your mark. You'll play a key role in ensuring our people are paid accurately and on time, while developing processes that support our continued growth.

And as the business expands, so could your role – with excellent potential to progress into a more senior position and build your own payroll team.

What's in it for you?

  • £40,000 per annum
  • Full-time, office-based position
  • 22 days holiday + bank holidays
  • Free on-site parking
  • Full ownership of the payroll function, with the autonomy to shape and improve existing processes
  • Excellent career progression opportunities, including the potential to build and lead a payroll team
  • The opportunity to play a key role in a rapidly growing, acquisition-focused business

The Role

  • Take full ownership of end-to-end weekly and monthly payrolls, currently covering approximately 180 weekly and 50 monthly paid employees
  • Prepare, review and reconcile payroll data using Excel before processing through Sage Payroll
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of salaries, overtime, statutory payments, deductions and other payroll adjustments
  • Manage attachment of earnings orders, Benefits in Kind (BIK) and other statutory payroll requirements
  • Oversee workplace pension contributions and administration through NatWest Cushon
  • Ensure full compliance with HMRC regulations, PAYE, National Insurance and current payroll legislation
  • Act as the main point of contact for internal and external payroll queries, resolving issues efficiently and professionally
  • Support payroll integration following acquisitions, ensuring a smooth transition for new employees and businesses
  • Drive continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to streamline processes, improve accuracy and support future growth

About You

  • Proven experience managing end-to-end payroll independently, with confidence handling both weekly and monthly payrolls
  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, PAYE, National Insurance, statutory payments and pension requirements
  • Highly proficient in Excel, with experience preparing, analysing and reconciling payroll data
  • Experience using Sage Payroll would be highly desirable
  • Exceptionally organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines
  • A confident communicator, comfortable handling payroll queries and working with colleagues at all levels
  • Proactive, solutions-focused and comfortable taking full responsibility for the payroll function
  • Experience managing payroll across multiple businesses or supporting acquisitions would be advantageous

This is more than just a payroll role – it's your opportunity to take ownership of a key business function, drive meaningful improvements and develop your career alongside an ambitious, expanding Group.
