The position offers hybrid working with 3 days a week in the office and a salary of 45,000 to 50,000 subject to experience. Open to full-time and part-time candidates.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years managing a payroll team.
  • Experience handling hourly-paid staff and time & attendance systems.
  • CIPP qualification (preferred).
  • Experience across multiple entities/workplaces is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage and develop the payroll team to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Oversee end-to-end payroll processing and timely, accurate payments.
  • Manage pension submissions and auto-enrolment compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with UK payroll legislation, HMRC regulations, and employment law.
  • Investigate and resolve payroll queries with stakeholders across the business.
  • Implement payroll best practices and drive process improvements.
  • Liaise with payroll software providers and stay updated on legislative changes.
  • Coach and mentor the payroll team to maintain high performance.
  • Conduct regular payroll audits and strengthen internal controls.

Payroll Manager
Newark Area Full-time or Part-time

Salary: 45,000 to 50,000 subject to experience

T2M Resourcing is recruiting an experienced Payroll Manager for an ambitious and growing business based in the Newark area.

This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional to lead an established payroll team, taking responsibility for the accurate, compliant, and efficient delivery of the payroll function. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring payroll operations run smoothly while supporting the ongoing growth of the business.

The company is open to considering both full-time and part-time candidates. The business offers hybrid working with 3 days a week required in the office.

Key responsibilities as Payroll Manager;

  • Lead, manage, and develop the payroll team, ensuring high levels of performance, accuracy, and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring all employees are paid accurately and on time in accordance with payroll schedules.
  • Manage pension submissions and ensure full compliance with workplace pension and auto-enrolment requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant UK payroll legislation, including HMRC regulations, tax laws, pension legislation, and employment law.
  • Investigate and resolve complex payroll queries and issues, providing expert support to employees and internal stakeholders.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain payroll best practices to improve accuracy, efficiency, and service delivery.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal departments
  • Manage the relationship with the payroll software provider, ensuring the system remains up to date with legislative changes, software enhancements, and new releases.
  • Monitor changes in payroll legislation and industry best practice, implementing necessary updates to ensure ongoing compliance and operational excellence.
  • Conduct regular payroll audits and process reviews, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and strengthening internal controls.
  • Coach, mentor, and support the payroll team through training and development initiatives, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.

Skills/experience required to be successful as Payroll Manager:

  • Minimum of 3 years' proven experience managing a payroll team, ideally within an organisation employing 1,000+ employees across multiple entities.
  • Demonstrable experience managing payrolls involving hourly-paid employees, with a strong understanding of time and attendance systems.
  • Professional payroll qualification (e.g. CIPP certification) is desirable.
  • Proven track record of identifying, implementing, and driving continuous payroll process improvements.
  • Collaborative approach, with the ability to work effectively across departments to resolve payroll queries and improve processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
