Job summary

VanRath is partnering with a forward-thinking organisation in Belfast to recruit a senior payroll professional. You will lead end-to-end payroll across multiple cycles, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely delivery in a dynamic, high-volume environment.

Reporting to senior management, you will share expertise on pensions, cross-border taxation and payroll systems, mentor a payroll team, and drive automation and process improvements to support business growth.

Qualifications

• End-to-end payroll experience in a high-volume environment.
• In-depth knowledge of payroll legislation and compliance.
• Proven experience leading payroll teams.
• Strong proficiency with payroll and HR systems and advanced Excel.
• Excellent problem-solving, organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple demands.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of monthly and weekly payrolls.
• Ensure payroll processes are accurate, compliant and timely.
• Manage complex payroll matters, including manual calculations and cross-border tax.
• Oversee pension scheme transactions, contributions and reporting.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and automation.
• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and provide expert guidance.
• Lead, develop and motivate the payroll team to maintain high standards and collaboration.
