Job summary

Menzies LLP in Manchester is seeking a Payroll Assistant Manager to lead a varied client portfolio and develop the payroll team. You will deliver accurate, secure payrolls on time, build strong client relationships and identify process improvements.

As part of the Outsourced Business Services team, you’ll coach Payroll Administrators and Seniors, manage deadlines, and contribute to a high-quality service culture that values accuracy, reliability and collaboration.

Qualifications

• 2 years within a payroll bureau
• End-to-end payroll understanding
• Experience coaching or supervising others
• Strong client relationship skills

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of a varied client portfolio and coordinate the payroll team
• Build trusted relationships with clients and colleagues
• Manage portfolio payrolls to ensure accuracy, security and timeliness
• Oversee notifiable deadlines (BACS payments, pension schedules) and quality checks
• Provide day-to-day guidance to Payroll Seniors and Administrators, balancing workloads
