BorgWarner, Inc. is seeking a Payroll professional to manage end-to-end payroll for salaried and hourly staff in the UK. You will act as the primary payroll contact, ensure accuracy and timeliness, and maintain compliance with legislation and company policies.

Job description

Overall Purpose

Responsible for the end-to-end delivery of payroll services, ensuring all employees are paid accurately and on time whilst maintaining full compliance with relevant legislation, BorgWarner policies and internal controls. Subject matter expert for payroll, time and attendance processes, payroll compliance, audits and annual statutory activities. Works closely with HR, Finance, managers and external payroll providers to ensure efficient payroll operations whilst maintaining the integrity of HR and payroll systems.

Payroll Administration
  • Responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for salaried and hourly employees.
  • Primary point of contact for payroll queries and escalations.
  • Responsible for maintaining compliance with payroll legislation and company policies.
  • Supports internal and external audits relating to payroll and employee data.
  • Maintains payroll-related HRIS and time & attendance records.
  • Provides payroll reporting and analysis to HR and Finance.
  • Recognised payroll subject matter expert within the UK.
  • Manage the end-to-end payroll process ensuring employees are paid accurately and on schedule.
  • Prepare, validate and submit payroll data to external third-party providers (including Mobility Assignment Reporting) where appliable.
  • Process new starters, transfers, promotions, salary changes, leavers and contractual amendments.
  • Validate payroll calculations including overtime, shift premiums, bonuses, statutory payments and deductions.
  • Reconcile payroll data and resolve discrepancies prior to payroll approval.
  • Respond to employee and manager payroll queries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Produce payroll reports and analytics as required.
Compliance and Audit
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable payroll, tax, National Insurance, pension and employment legislation.
  • Maintain payroll documentation, records and audit trails in accordance with company policies and statutory requirements.
  • Support internal, external and corporate audits by preparing payroll records and providing supporting evidence.
  • Conduct regular payroll audits and control checks to identify errors and mitigate risk.
  • Maintain confidentiality and compliance with GDPR and company data protection requirements.
  • Support implementation of payroll control improvements and process standardisation initiatives.
  • Ensure AEO and SOX requirements are upheld.
Annual Payroll Processes
  • Lead annual payroll activities including:
  • o UK Tax Year-End processing.
  • o P60 production and distribution.
  • o Benefits in Kind administration and P11D coordination.
  • o National Minimum Wage compliance reviews.
  • o Annual salary review and compensation change uploads.
  • o Bonus and incentive payment processing.
  • o Gender Pay Gap and other statutory reporting support where applicable.
  • o Pension scheme reconciliations and annual reporting.
  • o Year-end payroll reconciliations and statutory submissions.
Time and Attendance Administration
  • Review and maintain the time and attendance system and employee records.
  • Collaborate with managers to ensure correct validation of employee attendance, overtime, shift allowances and absence data.
  • Ensure attendance information is accurately transferred into payroll.
  • Support managers with system usage, reporting and issue resolution.
  • Investigate and resolve attendance-related discrepancies.
  • Support continuous improvement of time and attendance processes.
HR Administration
  • Provide HR administrative support related to employee lifecycle activities.
  • Prepare employment letters, contractual documentation and payroll-related correspondence.
  • Maintain employee records in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Support onboarding, offboarding and employee status changes.
  • Assist with communications, reporting, metrics and data analysis for HR and management teams.
  • Responsible for employee benefit administration and related communications.
HRIS Systems
  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of employee data within HRIS systems.
  • Process approved organisational, employee and compensation changes.
  • Perform regular system audits and data validation checks.
  • Support HRIS data cleansing and continuous improvement activities.
  • Partner with HRIS, HR and Finance teams to resolve system issues and improve processes.
  • Assist with testing and implementation of system upgrades and new functionality. This includes maintaining integrity of HR and payroll systems through accurate and timely transactions. Proven experience in a standalone Payroll role.
Desirable
  • CIPP qualification or working towards qualification.
  • Experience using Workday and ADP.
  • Understanding of HR administration processes.
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement projects.
  • Previous AEO and SOX experience.
