Your opportunity

We’re currently looking for a Payroll & Finance Assistant for our UK Finance Team. In this position, you will be responsible for supporting the bi-weekly payroll process via our third-party provider and assisting the wider finance team with tasks across accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reporting.

You will report to the Assistant Financial Controller and be part of the Finance team. The role also works closely with colleagues in HR and with external bodies such as HMRC and pension providers.

Where you’ll be

You will be located at our Gosport site in Hampshire, UK, and should be within reasonable commuting distance from here.

What you’ll be doing

• Collating and processing bi-weekly payroll data for submission to the third-party provider
• Verifying payslip data prior to payment
• Acting as the central point for internal payroll queries
• Monthly pension uploads and annual P11D preparation
• Generating payroll-related accruals and reconciling balance sheet accounts
• Supporting the processing of supplier invoices and managing ad hoc payments
• Assisting with customer payments and debt chasing
• Supporting other finance team tasks and covering monthly payroll absences

What you’ll bring to the role

• Minimum 2 years of payroll experience within the last 5 years
• Strong understanding of financial tasks and administration
• Advanced MS Excel skills (formulas, Pivot Tables, etc.)
• Up-to-date knowledge of UK payroll and tax legislation
• GCSE English and Maths (minimum grade 6 or equivalent)
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines
• A collaborative approach and clear, professional communication skills
