Job summary

Our Media in Bristol is seeking a Payroll Coordinator to ensure accurate and timely monthly payrolls for over 1,200 employees across five payrolls. You'll work with the Payroll Manager, Finance and People teams to deliver a reliable payroll service.

The role requires accuracy, organisational skills, and discretion with sensitive data. Previous payroll experience and strong numerical ability, plus good IT and Excel skills, are important, as is the ability to meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Payroll Manager with preparing the monthly payrolls.
  • Set up new starters and leavers in a timely way.
  • Liaise with the People Team for payroll changes.
  • Check and enter accurate information into the payroll system.
  • Verify tax codes and deductions.
  • Calculate holiday, sick, maternity pay, etc.
  • Assist employees with pay and timesheet queries.
  • Issue P45s and other tax forms.
  • Update processes per changes in legislation.
  • Perform other ad-hoc duties to support payroll.

Position

As Payrol l Coordinator, you’ll play an important role in making sure our people are paid accurately and on time each month. Working closely with the Payroll Manager, Finance and People teams, you’ll help support in the delivery of a smooth payroll service for more than 1,200 employees across five payrolls, ensuring payroll information is processed carefully, queries are handled supportively and employees can trust that their pay is in safe hands.

We’re looking for someone who is accurate, organised and confident working with payroll data. You’ll be comfortable managing deadlines, communicating clearly with colleagues across the business and handling sensitive information with care.

Previous payroll experience, strong numerical skills and good IT and Excel knowledge will help you succeed in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Payroll Manager with preparing the monthly payrolls

  • Regularly liaise with the People Team for accurate payroll changes
  • Check and enter correct information for employees onto the payroll system
  • Check tax codes and deductions
  • Calculate holiday pay, sick pay, maternity pay etc
  • Assist employees with pay and timesheet related queries
  • Issue P45’s and other tax forms
  • Update processes as required in line with changes to legislation
  • Any other ad-hoc duties to help the smooth running of payroll.
