Job summary

The Portfolio Group is seeking a Payroll Assistant to join its busy payroll department in the Essex area. You will support end-to-end payroll processing and maintain accurate employee records in a collaborative, fast-paced team environment.

This 12-month fixed term, part-time position offers flexible hours and an opportunity to gain valuable public sector payroll experience within a supportive organisation.

Qualifications

• Previous payroll experience at assistant or admin level.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
• Able to work well in a team.
• Confident communicating with stakeholders.
• Can meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Public sector payroll experience advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support end-to-end payroll processing monthly.
• Input and verify starters, leavers, and changes.
• Assist with statutory payments (SSP, SMP, etc.).
• Handle payroll queries professionally.
• Maintain accurate employee records.
• Support pension administration tasks.
